Raymond Allen Packer, a native of Iowa, received a B.S. and D.V.M. (1940) in Animal Husbandry from Iowa State College (University), as well as an M.S. (1942) and Ph. D. (1947). Dr. Packer began his teaching career at ISU in 1940 and was Head of the Dept. of Hygiene (1952-1980). He retired in 1985, but continued to teach veterinary history.
